FPL GW7 Free Transfer Glitz: Phil Foden

Paneorder on why Manchester City winger is a big alternative to team-mate Erling Haaland v Wolves

Paneorder is tipping one player to produce big points in Gameweek 7 of Fantasy Premier League.

Phil Foden (MCI) 7.6m

The Man City winger extended his strong start to 2023/24 FPL with one goal at home to Nottingham Forest on last Saturday.

Foden has blanked only once in his six Gameweek appearances this season, totalling 34 points.

Foden has found the net in last Gameweek and has the schedule to keep scoring.

Back-to-back goal involvements against Newcastle United, Fulham and Nottingham Forest at home in Gameweek 2, 4 and 6 suggested the winger could be Man City’s early go-to option.

The home displays of Phil Foden (7.6m) mean managers in Fantasy Premier League have a tempting midfield alternative to Bruno Fernandes (8.4m) for the Gameweek 7 differential.

He has also provided an assist in the road trip against Sheffield United.

Despite his early-season form, Foden has been largely overlooked by FPL managers.

He can be found in only 13.8 per cent of squads, compared with the 92.4 per cent of his team-mate Erling Haaland (14.1m).

Better than J. Alvarez?

Foden has outperformed the Argentinian in recent matches, taking 13 points to J. Alvarez’s 10 in their last two Gameweek appearances together.

The underlying numbers show Foden’s goal threat is improving this term.

He has had a single FPL point every 12.5 minutes, bettering his team-mate J. Alvarez of 13.29 minutes this campaign.

Furthermore, his total of six bonus points ranks joint-top among all outfield players in all six opening Gameweeks.

Points return from Gameweek 7 to 11

A travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers and a home encounter against Bournemouth look very promising for Foden’s prospects.

The England international has a strong record against the home side this weekend, he netted the third goal to wrap up in 3-0 victory at Molineux Stadium last September.

Wolves, meanwhile, conceded at least one goal at home in their last two home matches.

Foden looks set to deliver points yet again, providing managers with a big option for the captaincy in Gameweek 7.
