FPL prices: Salah goal threat gives edge over rivals

Paneorder on the underlying statistics that suggest Liverpool winger should be leading target among premium midfielders

Paneorder takes a look at the 2021/22 Fantasy Premier League player list assessing the best options according to position and price.

The recent release of this season’s fixtures will heavily impact how managers approach Gameweek 1.

Liverpool open the season with Norwich City, and the following fixtures are at home against Burnley.

Managers must now decide whether to captain those Reds players in Gameweek 1, use Triple Captain to get more points.

Mohamed Salah (LIV) 12.5m

The Liverpool attacker’s eye for goal stood out once again last term.

Salah recorded 126 shots and 22 goals, toping both statistics in midfielder category. And his shots in the box were also a league-leading total.

By comparison, Sadio Mane (12.0m) had 94 shots and 11 goals.

Salah’s potential for huge hauls in matches at Anfield makes one of the most explosive captaincy picks available.

He scored 13 of his 22 goals away from home last term.

Salah appears the early favourite to be the most-selected captain in Gameweek 1, with the Reds travel to promoted Norwich City.

FPL prices: Digne an all-round prospect

Paneorder assesses this season’s mid-priced defenders and explains why Everton Left-back’s dual potential gives him an edge

Paneorder takes a look at the 2021/22 Fantasy Premier League player list, assessing the best options according to position and price.

Lucas Digne (EVE) 5.5m

The left-back finished as Everton’s top-scoring defender in his 2020/21 campaign at Goodison Park, totalling 120 points.

Digne’s late-season performances were particularly encouraging.

One of his nine assist last term and four of his nine clean sheets came across his final seven starts.

The 27-year-old’s defensive contributions also lift his prospects of gaining extra through the Bonus Points System.

Indeed, only four other defenders bettered his total of 18 bonus points in 2020/21.

Paneorder takes a look at the 2021/22 Fantasy Premier League player list, assessing the best options according to position and price.

Ben White (BHA) 4.5m

The Englishman looks set for an extended run in Brighton and Hove’s starting XI following an impressive start of his first season in 2020/21.

White is expected to be joined Arsenal after recently speculation.

Costing just 4.5m, White can offer a cut-price route in to a Brighton & Hove defence who excelled in the latter part of last season.

They claimed four clean sheets from last ten Premier League matches.

If Seagulls play well in a favourable opening schedule, he can reward owners with attacking and defensive returns.

FPL prices: Save points boost appeal of Meslier

Paneorder analyses the mid-priced goalkeepers and picks out Leeds No 1 as a leading candidate

Paneorder takes a look at the 2021/22 Fantasy Premier League player list, assessing the best options according to position and price.

Illan Meslier (LEE) 5.0m

A total of 154 points helped the Leeds United No 1 finish third among goalkeepers in 2020/2021.

Meslier recorded 11 clean sheets but it is his potential for save points that really catches the eye.

The Frenchman made 140 saves last season, more than any other goalkeeper except Martinez in FPL.

Indeed, he earned 20 points from bonus point alone.

Owned by just 5.3 per cent last season, Meslier could emerge as a differential between the posts if the Whites are handed a favourable opening schedule.

The all-round potential can continue to make Meslier the go-to choice for managers seeking a set and forget pick in goal.
