FPL GW2 Free Transfer Glitz: Bernardo Silva

Paneorder on why Manchester City midfielder’s form can help extend his strong start to 2024/25 FPL

Paneorder is tipping one player to produce big points in Gameweek 2 of Fantasy Premier League.

Bernardo Silva (MCI) 6.5m

The Manchester City maestro has enjoyed a successful start to the season.

Bernardo‘a sweeping move provided the assist as Erling Haaland (15.0m) scored in a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese also contributed to a clean sheet and registered another goal contribution since the Charity Shield match against Manchester United.

With a home encounter against Ipswich Town in Gameweek 2 now gives Bernardo the chance to bring in more returns.

He was far more reliable in FPL when playing at Etihad Stadium last season.

He had a phenomenal 2023/24 season with Manchester City, providing nine assists and propelling the Citizens to the Premier League title, which was his career high in a single Premier League season.

Meanwhile, his playing style is favoured by the Bonus Point System (BPS), which determines the bonus points in any match.

His total of 20 bonus points last term is second among all City’s midfielders.

Indeed, only Phil Foden (9.5m), with 31 bonus points, bettered the City’s midfield partner for statistic.

In demand

Bernardo’s display at Chelsea has quickly caught the attention of Fantasy managers ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 BST deadline.

He is the third most-bought midfielder in the Gameweek, gaining over 213,000 new owners.

And his appeal is further enhanced by a kind upcoming schedule for Man City.

According the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR), eight of next ten matches score only two.

That suggests Bernardo can contribute to reward investors, with a big haul against the Ipswich Town on the cards.

FPL GW1 Free Transfer Glitz: Rodri

Paneorder says the Manchester City midfielder is a major influence in home matches and has the form to punish Chelsea

Paneorder is tipping one player to produce big points in Gameweek 1 of Fantasy Premier League.

Rodri (MCI) 6.5m

The Manchester City anchor enjoyed his best-ever FPL campaign in 2023/24.

Rodri totalled 159 points to finish as the third top-scoring City’s player in the game.

He scored 8 goals and supplied 10 assists in Fantasy, finishing only one assist behind their chief creator, Alvarez (7.0m).

Rodri has been consistent to replicate that form in UEFA EURO 2024 in July.

The Spanish International scored once in knock-out stages, a 4-1 win over Georgia.

Popular enabler pick

The 28-year-old’s prolific 2023/24 has made Rodri a major target for the Gameweek 1 visit to Chelsea.

He is a great enabler in midfield in FPL, found in 6.9 per cent of squads.

Those owners will be encouraged by Rodri’s numbers from last season.

When selected, he was involved in 40 per cent of Man City’s away goals during their first two away matches in last campaign.

Indeed, their visit to Chelsea last term, Rodri scored the fourth goal in their 4-4 draw in Stamford Bridge.

Fantastic fixtures

The early-season schedule further promotes the appeal of Rodri.

According to the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR), four of Man City’s first five home matches score only two.

Although he may not start in Gameweek 1, Rodri can still offer a steady stream of goals during the opening months of 2024/25 FPL.

Any manager contemplating their Wild selection must consider the first few Gameweeks of the campaign when assembling a new squad.

Top three stars including Haaland, Salah and Watkins likely to be hugely popular captaincy options.

Man City (Home): Ipswich, Brentford, Arsenal, Fulham and Southampton

Liverpool: Ipswich (a), Brentford (H), Man Utd (a), Forest (H), Bournemouth (H)

Aston Villa: West Ham (a), Arsenal (H), Leicester (a), Everton (H), Wolves (H)

All three teams’ schedules (above) are also enticing, their opening games during the first three months scoring three or two, according to the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR).

Spending wisely

That gives Haaland (15.0m) and Salah (12.5m), along with Watkins (9.0m) the chance to bring in big points returns.

Fitting those players into a squad is easier said than done, given their price tags. But it is possible to achieve the triple-up within an off-balanced line-up by making the most of the value on offer at other clubs.

FPL GW38 Free Transfer Glitz: Jean-Philippe Mateta

Paneorder says Crystal Palace’s striker is set to continue his fine form in home match on Sunday against Aston Villa

With so many Premier League matches in so few days, this is the crucial time of year when Fantasy Premier League mini-leagues can be won or lost.

Paneorder is tipping one player to produce big points in Gameweek 38 of Fantasy Premier League.

Jean-Philippe Mateta (CRY) 5.0m

The Frenchman has been a major success and a key performer in Crystal Palace’s recent home matches.

Eight of Mateta’s 13 goals in 2023/24 have been scored in the last six fixtures at Selhurst Park stadium.

He has earned 54 FPL points during that period, including two double-figure returns on home turf.

Home points streak

Mateta scored his fourth goal in a 3-0 home win with Burnley in Gameweek 26 under Oliver Glasner’s reign.

He followed up with impressive displays with 2 goals in his following two home appearances under new coaching arrangement.

The 26-year-old scored a brace each against West Ham United and Newcastle United to earn two double-digit hauls in Double Gameweek 34. Those displays helped him to back-to-back hauls of 16 and 13 points respectively.

He then picked up a further six points in Gameweek 36 with a stunning solo goal against Manchester United.

Despite his improving form under new boss, Mateta remains overlooked for his home meeting with Aston Villa.

The newly-crowned Crystal Palace’s Player of the Season sits in only 6.0 per cent of squads ahead of Sunday afternoon’s encounter.

Yet the Palace’s frontman was success to break his FPL’s away day return drought in his previous meeting with Aston Villa, providing an assist in their 3-1 loss at Villa Park in Gameweek 5.

Mateta is capable of extending his fine run of returns for the new head coach and has fixture to deliver more points, offering FPL managers a cut-price route into the Eagles’ attack

FPL GW37 Free Transfer Glitz: Josko Gvardiol

Paneorder is tipping one player to produce big points in Double Gameweek 37 of 2023/24 Fantasy Premier League.

Josko Gvardiol (MCI) 5.1m

The arrival of Josko Gvardiol as Man City left-back has revived the managers’ fortunes in Fantasy.

Gvardiol had not played six Premier League fixtures until the Blank Gameweek 29.

However, he has now started each of the Man City’s last seven matches since Gameweek 30 in the heart of defence.

Gvardiol has made an impact at both ends of the pitch, combining two goals and two assists with three clean sheets over those encounters.

The left-back offers strong potential for defensive and attacking returns in this Gameweek, visiting to Fulham before entertaining Tottenham Hotspur.

The Croatian’s recent return to the starting XI has helped the Citizens claim two successive wins and clean sheets in their last two Premier League away games.

Fulham, meanwhile, have struggled in defence at home recently and concede five goals across their last three outings on home soil.

Gvardiol’s goal threat could be a major weapon for the visitors on Saturday.

He has claimed 94 points this term, compared to the 72 of Ruben Dias (5.5m).

Indeed, that total has been bettered only by the 108 of Kyle Walker (5.4m), 98 of Manuel Akanji (5.0m) and 97 of Nathan Ake (5.0m) among all Man City’s defenders.

A kind run of opponents raises the appeal of investing in Man City defenders.

According to the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR), only one of their last three matches score more than three.

Furthermore, Man City are one of only six sides to have two fixtures in the Double Gameweek 37.

At a cost of only 5.1m, Gvardiol’s all-round appeal makes him a strong value (1.9 form/value and first in this ranking) pick for the Double Gameweek ahead.
