Overview-Championship Game week 34

Adams double as Top three cruise

Norwich City, Leeds United and Sheffield United are continued their point-seeking spree in their victories to keep their Premiership ambitions firmly on track.

Neither Teemu Pukki nor Billy Sharp scored on the match day. Things of Golden boot are heating up. Birmingham City’s Che Adams joined the race and has scored 21st goals in 33 matches, including a double against Blackburn Rovers who stopped their slump and earn their first point from last five games.

Middlesbrough consolidated fifth position in Championship and closed the gap within 3 points of rivals West Bromwich Albion, in fourth, who were defeated by Sheffield United 1-0. Thanks to Everton loanee Kieran Dowell who open his scoring account scored the only goal of the game in the first-half while Middlesbrough’s opponent, Queens Park Rangers failed to get a point in their last seven league games.

Birmingham pulled within 4 points of Midlands rivals Derby County, in seventh, who travel to Nottingham Forest on Monday night.

Paul Lambert’s side claimed a third consecutive league draw for the first time this season, scoring one goal in each game to fight back their relegation threat although Wigan Athletic’s Joe Garner scored in the game’s last action to deny Ipswich’s rare away win and clean sheet.

Said Benrahma bagged a hat-trick as Brentford hammered Hull City 5-1 to dent their hope to claim the last Play-off place this season. Brentford pulled a goal back through Kamohelo Mokotjo, who slotted home an equaliser after Fraizer Campbell taking the lead in the first half. But Brentford added further punishment with Neal Maupay’s netting in the fourth goal and put the Bees’ in a commanding winning position.

Paul Gallagher set up Preston’s scorer Sean Maguire for the killer third in 27 minutes as Millwall were pushed another step closer to the drop zone and only four point adrift to the 22nd, Rotherham United who only manage a draw in Reading and failed to win a game in their last eight outings.

Sheffield Wednesday won 3-1 over Swansea City while Stoke City shared a point apiece with Aston Villa in 1-1 draw in home turf.
