The Englishman’s improving home form is welcome news for Fantasy managers ahead of Gameweek 26.
Watkins ended a run of two straight blanks by scoring in Aston Villa’s win over Southampton and Leicester City in Gameweek 21 and Gameweek 22 respectively to collect 19 points in these two matches.
Aston Villa’s ace followed that up with at least one goal in his three Premier League fixtures, the first time he has delivered attacking returns in back-to-back home matches this term.
The 27-year-old extends that output in his away outings, scoring twice and collecting one bonus point in his travels to Manchester City and Everton.
The underlying statistics in Aston Villa’s recent matches against Arsenal highlight Watkins’ goal threat.
The Villian’s win over Everton with Watkins’ goal from the penalty spot in last Gameweek means Aston Villa now process first forward to hit 100 points this season.
His eight goals and five assists were both team-leading totals in his 24 outings this season.
Watkins’ upturn in output comes at a point when managers are restructuring their squads to navigate a Blank Gameweek 28 for six sides, including Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Aston Villa’s star is currently the number four in the Premier League scoring forward standing this season.
Their home encounter with Crystal Palace this weekend before hosting Bournemouth on Saturday 18 March.
Both those opponents have struggled in defence, lifting Watkins’ prospects further.
Palace have three clean sheets in eleven away matches, while AFC Bournemouth have managed only one shutout on their travels all season.
Watkins has the improving form to take advantage of those frailties, handing manager a major captaincy contender for Gameweek 26.
